Headquartered at the entrance of Lisbon, and strategically positioned near the main logistics access points to the country: airport, sea port and main road networks of the Iberian Peninsula. This location, coupled with a global network of partner agents, make ITERARTIS the preferred link between the art market in Portugal and abroad. ITERARTIS operates a regular Fine Art road-freight shuttle service between Lisbon and the main cities in Europe.

 

Fine Art Transport Trucks

We exclusively transport artworks. All our transport is carried out by 2 specialized drivers. All trucks are equipped in accordance with the safety and security requirements for the transport of artworks.

The vehicles have temperature control, tail lift platform, air suspension, alarm and GPS location systems, including remote temperature monitoring and door opening.

Transportation in Europe

We carry out direct and exclusive Fine Art transports.

We also operate regular routes between Lisbon and the main cities of Europe, providing a consolidated Fine Art transport service.

Insurance

We deal with the contracting of specialized insurance for works of art, providing "nail-to-nail" solutions for national and international transport.

Additional Services

We offer special transport services for large-sized pieces and provide police or private escorts.

 

Packing techniques

We specialize in the handling and packaging of artworks. We follow the highest standards of quality throughout the process. All starts with a technical site visit in which the conservation status of the work is assessed as well as its vulnerable points. Based on the information gathered, we design and propose the most appropriate packing and transportation solution.

Our packing technique normally involves 3 types of material: the first involving direct contact, a second for absorption and impact and a final one for physical protection. All materials used are chemically inert (neutral PH, acid free) and non-abrasive.

Carpentry shop and crates

We have our own carpentry workshop where we develop and produce crates specially designed for the transport of artworks. Our crates meet the specific needs of each transport job and can be customized to meet our clients’ demands.

Supply of packing materials

We supply and deliver all kinds of packing materials suitable for the packing of artworks.

Air and sea freight

We coordinate air and sea transport of artworks, including all necessary customs procedures.

With a global network of specialized agents, we have the ability to move artworks anywhere in the world.

We ensure the supervision of cargo handling at airports and ports, and we monitor transported items until their delivery at the final destination.

Assistance to couriers

Some transports of artwork require the physical supervision of a client representative, also called a courier service.

In this case, we plan all aspects of the courier trips, carrying out a 24h/24h personalized service available during all operations.

Customs

We organize all formalities with Portuguese Customs (Land, Air and Sea) for the import and export of artworks, fully briefing clients on the careful preparation of documentation, in order to guarantee the maximum speed in completing customs procedures, and whenever necessary providing a specialized Bunded Warehouse service.

We handle the issuance of Customs Transit Documents for the circulation of artworks under Customs control within Europe.

Whenever required we also handle additional documentation, namely licenses for Circulation of Cultural Goods, CITES and ATA Carnet.

Install/De-Install services

We coordinate the logistics of national and international exhibitions. We also manage special projects.

We collaborate with artists, museums, galleries, collectors and any another entities requiring artworks to me moved and installed.

Our technical teams are adapted to the scale of each projectand prepared to ensure the best coordination and operation of transport, packing, unpacking, installation and de-installation of exhibitions.

Our teams are composed of experienced technicians, with all the training and skills required to handle artworks.

We assure and provide all the mechanical means necessary for more complex projects, as well as the design and conception solutions for itsassembly and installation. Whenever requested, and with the support of external partners, we can also provide accessory and specific museography, Conservation and Restoration services.

Installations of large-sized artworks

We have proven experience in the installation of large sculptures and other large-sized artistic structures, using cranes and other means involving mechanical support structures, both outside and inside buildings.

Reception and security

Our warehouse is prepared to receive vehicles of all sizes and carry out loading and unloading operations inside, in complete safety and in a protected environment. Our premises are located in a closed industrial complex, with restricted access and with permanent security and a video surveillance system.

Custom storage with temperature and relative humidity control

We have 1,500m2 of area specially prepared for the storage of works of art. This area includes 400m2, spread across eight individual security chambers, all with independent temperature and relative humidity control.
